Ludlow Town Colts 1, Technical Services FC 2 –
In the other semi final struggling Ludlow took on league leaders Technical Services, again the conditions really did play a part in this game; neither side could get the ball down with the ball being so un-predictable. Technical Services however, started the brighter, quick short passes started to pay off for Tech. Services and they started to find a lot of joy down both wings. Michael Rimmer fed the ball to striker Kevin Price; he weaved into the Ludlow 18 yard box only to be taken down for a penalty. Nick Best stepped up but missed the target and the chance to give Technical Services a deserved lead. Technical Services continued to dominant the game, Ludlow defended well and hoped for a break on the counter attack. Technical Services started to get frustrated at not being able to find that telling finish, again Michael Rimmer broke down the left wing, he put in a cross that hung up in the air, the Ludlow defender cleared the ball but only a matter of yards and it dropped kindly for Simon Fryer to volley it first time and it went thundering in off the post. Technical Services had chances to finish off the game, but chances came and went. Ludlow started to create a few attacks, winning the second ball in midfield which enabled Ludlow to put pressure on the Technical Services defence. Half time came with Tech. Services winning this tie 1 nil, Technical Services continued the second half the same as the first, but the wind still played its part, Philip Jones finished a fine lob on the edge of the 18 yarder to give Technical Services the lead. Technical Services then consolidated the lead, but Ludlow’s young sides never say die attitude got them back into the game. Ludlow used the wind on a free kick to get the ball into the Technical Services goal area, Tech. Services’ defence didn’t clear the ball and it was header home over the keeper by Ludlow’s Ally Carvell. It all came a little too late for Ludlow and the game finished with a win and another cup final for the league leaders Technical Services.
