Technical Services 3, Prees United 2 –
League leaders Technical Services faced a Prees side also looking for first win in 2009 and Prees battled all the way for it. Technical Services found the going hard but passed the ball round very nicely, but not finding the finishing touch, with the Prees keeper doing everything to keep them at bay and hoping for a break through on the counter attack. Half time came with the score at nil nil, Technical Services started the second half the brighter and Nick Best scored with a lob volley from 20 yards off a corner. However Prees found some joy down the left hand side and put a cross in the box which was headed in by Martin William levelling the game minutes after Tech’s got the lead. Prees then grew in confidence, a well taken free kick beat the offside trap leaving Mark Anderson one on one and he finished well giving Prees a surprising lead. A switch around by the home side got them playing football again and Nick Best weaved his way into space to get a shoot on the Prees keeper which Nick finished well in the right corner. Technical Services then came into the game and Kevin Price latched on to a free ball before the Prees defence and keeper, the ball hit the net to the relief of the league leaders. Few more chances came but the game finished with another 3 points for Technical Services who go 9 points clear after playing more games. Prees getting closer to their first win in 2009 but can take encouragement from this performance.
