5 GAMES 5 WINS FOR 5 STAR SERVICES!!
TSFC went into the match without their main striker force; both Kevin Price & Nick Best were not available due to other commitments. So there was a chance for some of the new signings to have a go straight away! Darren (Daz) Woodall made his debut in the centre of midfield, Bruno Santos making his debut on right wing & TSFC welcomed back Alan Edwards who played up front with Craig (Billy) Williams and Billy had been playing in centre midfield but with the lack of strikers Alan & Billy headed the charge.
TSFC only real noticeable non-change was the back four as captain Ben Cheadle played right back, Laurie Bridle, Ian (Chunk) Gillespie played centre half’s and Phil Jones was back into left back after playing centre half in the last cup game.
The 1st half the back four looked solid as you would expect with that department of the side having the most experience in playing together. The rest of the side started to play some good football, Daz Woodall worked well with Simon Fryer in the centre of the park, and they found wingers Bruno Santos & Michael Rimmer in lots of space and started to create a lot of chances. The first TS goal came from pressing from our centre midfielders, getting a free kick 25 yards or so out, Daz Woodall delivered a quality ball and Oswestry defended it well with a clearance but that feel to the feet of Simon Fryer who hit the ball first time and it flew in from 20 yards giving the oppositions keeper no chance.
TS continued to settle, the new lads fitting in well and creating chance after chance. Billy could have scored but didn't thanks to some great goalkeeping and Alan Edwards had a near point blank shot saved also. But from a corner, which was from a result of some heavy attack on Oswestry's goal, TS new signing Bruno Santos hit the ball from outside of the foot to the near post, Oswestry couldn't deal with the flick on provided by Ian (Chunk) Gillespie and Michael Rimmer claimed to have the final touch to make it 2 nil.
Technical Services went into half time full of optimism and confidence from their first half display. But they had to be told that looking from the side lines there were some cracks appearing and Oswestry did look like they had a goal in them.
Second half right on queue, about 10 minutes into the second half Oswestry scored and it was a well taken goal by their striker. This gave Oswestry some belief, TS looked like they needed a change, after having so much possession and not finding the finishing touch something had to give. So Alan Edwards moved to right wing Bruno Santos made way (a fine debut by the lad) and Carl Owens, another new signing went up front and straight away made an impact within a few minutes he had got in behind an Oswestry full back got to the by line and crossed a peach of a ball on to Craig (Billy) Williams' head. 3-1 and TS have some breathing space. Then further changes came, captain Ben Cheadle moved into centre half with Ian (Chunk) Gillespie, Laurie Bridle made way having done so much hard work and lacking match fitness. Neil (Skinny) Hyde stepped into right back and Craig (Billy) Williams dropped to centre midfield as Simon Fryer took over from Alan Edwards at right wing, leaving room for Tim Weston to partner Carl Owens up front.
Having made all three subs TS started to look very strong and it started to look as if they would get their fourth rather than Oswestry claiming their second. With a lot of the ball being played down Technical Services' left hand side Phil Jones & Michael Rimmer where linking up very nicely, creating chance after chance. Darren (Daz) Woodall took on a few players to find himself on the edge of the box, he decided to go alone hitting a below par shot straight at the keeper, but a lucky fumble by the keeper and it went in between his legs.
The game then finished with a few more chances for Technical Services and Oswestry's heads seem to have dropped not really creating anything more and just trying not to concede anymore. So Technical Services FC continue they're fine start to the league campaign, very happy with the new lads fitting in well and well done to the boys for making them feel welcome. 100% start can't ask for more than that and the best bit is you can still see a lot more room for improvement and we look forward to adding the likes of Kevin Price and Nick Best who where absent today.
