TSFC START WITH A BANG FOR 2009!!

Technical Services FC 5, Kinnerley 0 –
It was a case of top versus bottom and a strong Technical Services side came out on top at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. However Kinnerley looked a different side, with at least three new faces added to the squad over the Christmas period, hoping to get their un-achieving season started and Kinnerley got the first clear cut chance of the match. Goal Keeper Alex Richards produced a fine ‘point blank’ save that woke the league leaders up as they dominated possession and bombarded the Kinnerley goal. Craig Sanders warned the Kinnerley defence with 2 fine delivered corners not being found by one of his colleagues, but it was case of third time lucky, Craig Sanders sent a beautiful ball to the far post finding Phil Jones’ head, Phil Jones’ header rocketed into the right top corner of the Kinnerley goal leaving the Kinnerley goal keeper stranded. Technical Services started to get into a stride, Kinnerley finding it difficult to get even out of there own half, a mistake by the Kinnerley defence left Nick Best with a clear shot at goal on the edge of the 18, Nick Best finished very well into the bottom left corner. Half time came with Technical Services well in control and worth their lead. Technical Services went on the attack again, it was only a matter of time when the third goal came, and Carl Owens scored into an open net from a re-bound off the keeper, Nick Best then got two more goals to complete his hat trick; however a special mention has to go to man of the match Kevin Price! Kevin Price gave the game his all, running his heart out for 90 minutes; Technical Services go 8 points clear with an impressive goal difference that was helped by the 5 goals here today. Kinnerley can take something from this game, the new players did very well and Kinnerley did not look at all like a side that should be rooted bottom of the league.

A great result for TSFC, finally getting their league campaign re-started once again after two postponed matches & Kinnerley really wanted to beat us today fielding at least 3 lads that play at a higher standard. But the Technical Services' lads know they too should be playing at a higher standard, that showed here today, with some lads looking rusty after the long lay off the word for today was definitely TEAM WORK and that’s how I’d sum up today's result, great individual play by all that resorted in the whole team working for each other and producing a performance all involved in the club could be proud of! It has to be said that it's unfortunate not to get any more goals considering the pressure we put on Kinnerley and their keeper! But when you have a young referee not getting any help what so ever from the travelling Kinnerley lines-man and to be fair a Kinnerley keeper that pulled off some fine saves! TSFC are happy to have the 5 goals to help their LSPL standings (TSFC now stand 5th out of 80 clubs in the LSPL) as well as take them to 8 points clear at the league summit.
