The Shropshire Alliance League had a full bill of fixtures for this weekend; main focus was the fixture that saw top of the league Technical Services travel to Oswestry to take on third place Felton Lions. Felton Lions do still have an outside chance of catching the top two, if they can get a result against them, but Technical Services had other ideas, they raced into a 2 nil lead, both goals scored by Nick Best and it was to start off a great afternoon for the lone striker. Technical Services had more chances that came and went, playing against the wind and Felton Lions continued with the long ball looking to win the knock downs. Half time Tech Services winning 2 nil, the away side deserved their lead, Felton Lions simply hadn’t turned up and it went from bad to worst for the home side, Technical Services came out all guns blazing and got into a 5 nil lead!! Nick Best got his four goals in his afternoon’s work and Craig Williams finished off a fine move. The Felton Lions’ never say die attitude did get them a goal back, Dave O’Hara beat the offside trap and finished well. Felton Lions then became a different side and when Laurie Bridle took down the Felton Lions striker to concede a penalty, for which Laurie Bridle saw red, which caused confusion, however Kenton Cawley stepped up only to blast his shot wide. Technical Services then lost their shape a bit going a man down; Felton Lions pushed on, playing four up front hoping to make a remarkable come back. Dave O’Hara then scored his brace and Kenton Cawley scored a superb top corner volley, Technical Services also had chances hitting the wood work and the Felton Lions’ keeper made some fine saves. But the game finished with 3 points going to Technical Services and one step closer to the championship.
