TOP OF THE TREE AT CHRISTMAS!!!
Bayston Hill 1, Technical Services 3 -
League leaders Technical Services took the very short journey to face Bayston Hill, Weather conditions had taken its toll on the Bayston Hill pitch but with late pitch inspections the game just survived. Bayston Hill fielded a strong side looking to climb up the league and started the brighter causing Tech’s all sorts of problems. Jason Humphries then fired a great strike into the Technical Services net to give Bayston Hill a deserved lead. Bayston Hill then just carried on the pressure on the Tech’s back-line, however Technical Services were starting to re-group; finding their feet on what was a very heavy, wet pitch & when Bayston Hill’s goal scorer Jason Humphries limped off unable to continue Bayston Hill’s head’s seemed to go off the game. Technical Services took advantage of some space available and Craig Williams fired in from close range to equalise against is old club. This goal really got Technical Services started, they played an unusual 4-5-1 formation due to the conditions and it was starting to pay off, Bayston Hill however still looked dangerous on the attack. 10 minutes from half time a well worked throw in saw Kevin Price and Darren Woodall work well together in the far corner. This left Darren to cross the ball to un-marked Craig Williams to get his second of the afternoon rubbing his old sides noses in the mud just before half time & that must of put a big smile upon his face! Half time Technical Services went in winning 2-1 but with Technical Services only really creating 2 chances and scoring them both, Bayston Hill rightly felt a little hard done by. The game really opened up in the second half Bayston Hill pushed for the equaliser only to come short at the back and once Kevin Price broke at them on the counter attack he found Darren Woodall to score from close range giving Technical Services much needed breathing space. The conditions then got to both teams with a lot of tired legs trying to creating chances Technical Services Kevin Price was looking good on the counter attack and Bayston Hill really pushed up looking for more goals. But it finished 1-3 to the away side; Technical Services go 5 points clear at the top of the league leaving Bayston Hill to wonder what could have been.
